4. LED Test
: Lift and replace the handset. The phone rings momentarily, and all LED-equipped
buttons on the phone and any attached PKMs light. The LCD shows

any of the LEDs do not light, contact Mitel Technical Support.
5. Keypad Matrix Test
: Lift and replace the handset. The phone rings momentarily. The LCD
shows
TESTING KEY MATRIX
. One at a time, press each of the buttons on the phone and any
attached PKMs in any order. If the button is functioning properly, a key tone is heard, the LED
lights red, and a specific code is shown on the display. The proper code for each button is
diagrammed in Figure 5 on

If the signal tone is not heard
or the displayed code is incorrect, the button is faulty; contact Mitel Technical Support. In addition
to testing the keypad on the phone itself, the keys on any attached PKM(s) can also be tested
by displaying the hexadecimal key code on the LCD when a key on the PKM is pressed.
6. Speaker Tones Test
: Lift and replace the handset. The speaker tones are broadcast over the
speakerphone speaker. The LCD shows

7. Speaker Volume Test
: Lift and replace the handset. Tones of various volume levels, from softest
to loudest, are broadcast over the speakerphone speaker. The LCD shows

8. Microphone Test
: Lift and replace the handset. The audio is routed from the hands-free micro
-
phone to speaker. The LCD indicates whether the audio path for the microphone test is currently
disabled (MICROPHONE OFF) or enabled (MICROPHONE ON). Press a key on the phone to
toggle the audio path state.
9. Handset Tones Test
: Lift the handset, and then press and release the hookswitch. The handset
tones are broadcast over the handset receiver. The LCD shows

10. Headset Tones Test
: Put on the headset
(if one is attached)
and place the handset back in its
cradle. The headset tones are broadcast over the headset. The LCD shows

11. Maximum Power Test
: Lift and replace the handset.

The maximum power draw test attempts to draw the maximum amount of power from the system
by turning on all LCD pixels, all LEDs, and playing a test tone at maximum volume out of the
handset, headset, and hands-free speakers. The LCD shows MAX POWER indicating that the
maximum power test is in progress by toggling between text and a fully darkened LCD every
half-second.
12. Watchdog Test
: Lift and replace the handset. The phone rings momentarily. The LCD shows
TESTING COMPLETED!
for several seconds before the phone resets. If the phone watchdog
timer fails to reset the phone, the LCD shows WATCHDOG ERROR and eight short bursts of
ring tone. Contact Mitel Technical Support.
WARNING
Possible Hearing Injury
. DO NOT hold the handset or headset to your ear when transitioning to the
Maximum Power Test. The Maximum Power Test plays a tone out the handset, headset, and
hands-free speakers as soon as it begins. This could cause hearing problem due to loud volume.
