Optional External Messaging Systems
Beginning with the v3.0 release, the Voice Processing Unit (VPU) is not supported on the MiVoice
Office 250.
For increased capacity and additional functionality, you can replace UVM with a NuPoint Unified
Messaging (UM) system. NuPoint UM systems can be installed on any or all nodes in the network.
NuPoint UM is an optional, external system that unifies communication and messaging by providing
access to voice mail, fax, and e-mail messages in the user’s mailbox. For detailed information, refer
to the NuPoint UM documentation located on the
(edocs.mitel.com).
NuPoint UM systems allow a caller to leave (on a local system) a message addressed to a mailbox
located on a different system in the network. NuPoint UM has its own internal message queue,
similar to a mailbox message queue, and stores messages until they can be delivered.
For additional information on NuPoint UM, refer to the following documents:
MiVoice Office 250 Features and Programming Guide
, part number 580.8001.
MiVoice Office 250 and NuPoint UM Integration Guide
, part number 580.8008.
