The described procedure can be used to delete both the MBR and GPT disks.
The numbers for block size (BlkSize) and block count (BlkCount) are displayed in
hex. To calculate the overall size open Windows Calculator and change to Hex
mode by clicking View -> Scientific -> Hex. Multiply both numbers and then click
View -> Scientific -> Dec. This should give the disk size. Using the examples in
Figure 4-7 on page 101, this would be:
200 x 21E6CA0 = 43CD94000 (hex)
43CD94000 (hex) = 18200739840 (dec)
18200739840 = 18.2 GB disk
200 x 32D9000 = 65B200000 (hex)
65B200000 (hex) = 27298627584 (dec)
27298627584 = 27.3 GB disk (this is a RAID array)
The actual block count is typically not an exact figure and is based on how EFI
views the available space it has access to. However, the number will be accurate
enough to determine the physical disk size.
EFI tips and tricks
By default, the EFI has a basic set of tools to get you up and running. However, it
is possible to enhance this by installing additional tools and making some basic
modifications. The tips below guide you through some of these.
A USB memory key is highly recommended for efficient use and maintenance
of the EFI environment.
When a USB memory key is inserted there is a delay of up to 10 seconds
during which the keyboard freezes. The keystrokes are buffered.
After an EFI/SAL or diagnostics upgrade, move the update files from the root
of the drive from where they were installed. This avoid future problems when
upgrading.
Tip: The hard drive partitioning utility DISKPART.EFI may also be used to
create the disk partitions, but to do this we recommend using tools available
during or after operating system installation.
Tip: It is possible to use the LSI (see “EFI tips and tricks” on page 102) or
ServeRAID utilities (see “ServeRAID configuration CD” on page 110) to delete
partitions by destroying and re-creating the RAID array.
