Other boot options
The other EFI Boot Maintenance Manager options allow you to invoke alternative
boot options and set alternative input and output devices. For more information
on how to use these options refer to the user manual.
4.2 Configuring scalable partitions
This section provides information and instructions for creating and deleting
scalable partitions through the Configuration/Setup Utility program.
Before you create or delete scalable partitions, read the following information:
The Remote Supervisor Adapters must be connected to the same network.
This is required to create and maintain the partition.
PCI-X slot numbering starts with the primary node, including attached remote
I/O enclosures, and continues with the secondary nodes, in numeric order of
the logical node IDs.
To change the primary node, delete the scalable partition from the current
primary node (if it exists). Then create a new scalable partition from the new
primary node.
4.2.1 Creating a scalable partition
Complete the following steps to create a scalable partition:
1. If you have not already done so, connect the SMP Expansion, RXE
Expansion, and RXE Management cables. See “SMP Expansion connectivity”
on page 67 and “Remote Expansion Enclosure connectivity” on page 70.
2. Start the Configuration/Setup Utility program from the EFI Firmware Boot
Manager.
3. From the main menu, select Advanced Setup. See Figure 4-34 on page 132.
Note: The Scalable Systems Manager program, when available, is an
extension to IBM Director that provides a graphical user interface for creating
and managing scalable partitions. More information is detailed in “Scalable
Systems Manager” on page 177.
