Chapter 18. Attaching 155Mbps Devices to the I/O card
Before You Begin Cabling
Remember these tips when connecting cables to the ATM Workgroup Switch:
Ÿ Avoid stretching and bending the cables too much. Optical fiber cable is easily damaged.
Ÿ Avoid trip hazards by routing the cables away from aisles and other areas where people walk. If
such routes cannot be avoided, use floor cable covers or similar material to secure and protect the
cables.
Ÿ Be sure that the cables connected to the ATM Workgroup Switch are supported so that the cable
connectors are not excessively strained. The cable management bracket shipped with the Base Unit
helps prevent strain on the cables.
Ÿ Use multimode or single-mode optical fiber cable that is appropriate for the drive distance required
for the 155Mbps ATM I/O Card port.

