Chapter 12. Configuring Trunk Connections
Carry out the procedures in this chapter only if you want to connect your ATM Workgroup Switch
to other switches.
For an overview of the concepts required to connect the workgroup switch to other switches in an ATM
campus network, see Chapter 3, “Building an ATM Campus Network” on page 29.
Procedure
To configure trunk connections to other switches, or to configure Permanent Virtual Circuits (PVCs) in the
ATM Workgroup Switch or in the local ATM cluster, perform the following steps:

If you will connect the workgroup switch to one or more clusters or subnetworks in an ATM
network, you must create trunks (logical links) to the other ATM switches in the network.
To set up trunks to other switches, as described in “Setting Up Trunks (Logical Links)” on
page 100, use the command:
set logical_link

If the switches you will connect to are outside the local subnetwork, you must also define
static routes to those switches.
To define static routes for switches in other subnetworks, as described in “Setting Static
Routes to Other Subnetworks” on page 100, use the command:
set static_route

To create a PVC for Virtual Channel Connections (VCCs), as described in “Creating a PVC
for Virtual Channel Connections” on page 101, use the command:
set pvc

To create a PVC for Virtual Path Connections (VPCs), as described in “Creating a PVC for
Virtual Paths Connections” on page 102, use the command:
set pvc
