Default Settings for ATM Modules and Ports
When an ATM Workgroup Switch is powered-on, it automatically receives the configuration settings of all
ATM media modules that are mounted in the Expansion Unit as well as their ports. The ATM Workgroup
Switch provides the following features that maximize security and minimize the risk of losing module and
port configuration settings:
Ÿ All ATM media modules installed in an ATM Workgroup Switch after an ATM Workgroup Switch
module has been installed will have their ports disabled to prevent unauthorized connections. In this
case, the ATM media modules will have their network setting set to
isolated .
Ÿ If you remove an ATM media module from the Expansion Unit and then reinstall it or another ATM
media module of the same type in the same slot, the ATM Workgroup Switch will automatically
configure it using the last settings configured for the slot.
For the actual default settings of a particular ATM module, refer to the documentation of that module.
Refer to the IBM 8250/8260/8285: Planning and Site Preparation Guide, GA33-0285 for a chart to record
the parameters you set for the ATM media modules in your Expansion Unit.
