49. INSPECTION AND REPAIR
1. It is recommended that all new O-rings and oil seals be installed when track frame removing.
2. Check surface for sharp corner. If necessary, grind and polish. Remove LOCTITE from stuck
surfaces and clean with proper solvent
3. Inspect wear washers, retaining plates, shaft seals, seal shields, pivot shaft and bushings for
damage or excessive wear.
4. Inspect guide bars for distortion or broken welds. If replacement is necessary, cut bars off track
frame and replace.
5. Inspect the track frame for damage and excessive warpage.
50. REASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION (Refer to Figs 14.40 and 14.41)
1. Install the pivot shaft (5) to machine as follows:
a. Attach a hoist sling to the pivot shaft. The hoist must be installed to give the best possible
balance. Position the pivot shaft to the main frame.
b. Secure the pivot shaft to the main frame. Torque the bolts to 2750 [Nm].
2. Put the snap ring (4) on pivot shaft (5).
3. Install the pivot shaft seal (11) on pivot shaft (5) as follows (Fig. 14.42):
NOTE: Take care at seal (11) installation not to damage the rubber parts of seal.
a. Cover with LOCTITE #609 the outer seal (11) surfaces and press the seal into new seal
shield (3); refer to Fig. 14.42.
b. Cover with LOCTITE #609 the pivot shaft (5) mounting surface and install pivot shaft seal
(11) with seal shield (3) on pivot shaft (5). The seal shield water and impurities evacuation
bore (B)
