29. Compress springs (12) as shown in Fig. 7C.36 and install retaining ring (2).
30. Install retaining ring (28) in drum (46). Install O-ring (47) on shaft (1). Install new O-ring (43)
and seal ring (42) on hub (44). Install hub (44) into drum (46) and secure with retaining ring
(28) and retaining ring (45).
31. If bearing cone (49) was removed, heat new bearing cone to 135 [°C] for 45 minutes and install
on first gear hub (44) until it bottoms. To assure cone is properly seated on hub (44), keep
pressure against the cone until it cools down a few seconds.
32. Reassemble component parts (2 and 50) in sequence indicated.
33. If bearings (48 and 49) were replaced, press new bearing cup (48) in cover (4, Fig. 7C.7) and
press new bearing cup (49) in housing (1, Fig. 7C.7) with depth not less than 0.04 [mm].
Directional Clutch Shaft (Input Shaft) (Refer to Fig. 7C.20)
34. If removed, install pins (30 and 31) into the shaft (1). Install metering plug (4).
NOTE: Press in spring pins (31) to shaft holes down to depth of 1.3 [mm] from shaft surface. Do
not damage the shaft surface during this process.
35. Press in dowel pins (30) to shaft holes down to shaft surface. Press in metering plug (4) to
shaft holes down to a depth of 30.5 [mm] from shaft surface. Do not damage the shaft surface
during this process.
36. Reassemble adapter shaft (3) and secure with retaining ring (2).
37. Install retaining ring (9) if it was removed. Heat the hub (21) to 200 [
°
C] and press it on the
shaft (1) until it bottoms on retaining ring (9). Reinstall second retaining ring (9). Install new
O-rings (25) and new seal rings (24) on hub (21).
38. If removed, install retaining ring (15) in the narrower of the two center grooves of drum (26).
39. Install the hub (21) with shaft (1), end with adapter (3) first, in drum (26) and secure with
second retaining ring (15).
