PROBABLE CAUSE
REMARKS
External Leakage
1.Defective connections in cooling
system.
Check or replace defective hoses and clamps as
required.
2. Radiator leaks.
Remove the radiator. Repair or replace as necessary.
Make a pressure test.
4. Defective coolant pump seal.
Inspect the coolant pump body for indication for
coolant leakage at the weep hole. Remove pump,
replace defective parts. Refer to Troubleshooting
and Repair Manual QSX15 Engines.
5. Cracked or warped cylinder head.
Replace cylinder head and gasket. Torque head bolts
as specified in Troubleshooting and Repair Manual
QSX15 Engines.
6. Cylinder block cracked or porous.
Repair or replace defective block. Refer to
Troubleshooting and Repair Manual QSX15 Engines.
Engine Runs Cold
1. Extremely cold weather.
Cover radiator.
2. Coolant temperature gauge or sensor
faulty.
Replace sensor or temperature gauge.
3. Thermostat inoperative.
Replace. Refer to Troubleshooting and Repair Manual
QSX15 Engines.
Drive Train Cooling System

Drive Train Oil Overheating
1.
Operating too long in low efficiency
ranges.
Review operating instructions in the Operator’s
Manual.
2. Clogged radiator.
Flush with steam for external clogging.
3. Temperature gauge or sensor faulty.
Replace sensor or temperature gauge.
4. Torque converter problem.
Refer to Section 7.
5. Transmission problem.
Refer to Section 7.
6. Steering problem.
Refer to Section 7.
5. REMOVAL
1. Position machine in place which makes it possible to use lifting device for lifting of disassembled
assembles.
WARNING! Before working at the machine, be sure that the blade and ripper have
been lowered to the ground, engine is OFF, the drive train control lever is locked
and parking brake is set. The starting switch and the electrical system master
switch are turned OFF, keys are removed and the controls are tagged to prevent
inadvertent engine starting.
2. Turn electrical master switch to "OFF" position.
3. Loosen the clamp and remove the air precleaner (4, Fig. 6.2). Disassemble the aspirator tube
between the air precleaner and muffler.
