BLADE TILT CYLINDER
Fig. 10C.17. Seating Gland with Lock Ring
5. Secure cylinder housing (1) to hoist frame. Attach hoist to socket cap (17) and lower
rod assembly into housing (1) using extreme care not to damage wear rings (5) and piston seal
(8). Once piston (7) has entered housing, drive rod 1/2 stroke.
6. Tie cover (16) to socket cap (17) to provide working clearance. Start gland assembly (10) into
housing (1) and drive in just below lock ring groove in housing. Install lock ring (15) into
housing groove. Install two puller bolts 1/2”NC - 1-3/4” and nuts (Fig. 10C.17) and thread
into gland. Tighten nuts to draw gland up against lock rings. Remove puller arrangement and
lift cover (16). Coat inner cylinder housing surface over the gland with high temperature type
230 HHT grease 1 [mm] in thickness. Secure cover (16) to gland (10) and torque bolts with
washer to 110 - 120 [Nm].
7. If removed, install the cylinder bushing (2) to cylinder housing (1).
10. INSTALLATION
1. Attach a hoist sling to the blade tilt cylinder (1, Fig.10C.11) as was done in removal procedure.
2. Position the housing eye of the tilt cylinder into the bracket on the push arm at R.H. side of the
machine. Install pin (7) into push arm bracket and secure with hardware.
3. Install cylinder rod ball in socket of blade (3). Install socket cap (2) and evenly tighten bolts
to 270 [Nm]. Measure gap between socket cap and socket and remove bolts. Install a shims
pack of measured gap plus an additional shim for clearance. Each shim is 0.75 [mm] thick.
Install bolts with washers and torque to 845 [Nm]. Remove the hoist sling.
4. Connect the hoses (4, Fig. 10C.11) to blade tilt cylinder (1) and install hose clamp (5) to the tilt
cylinder (1).
5. Vent the hydraulic system and add oil as necessary, refer to the OPERATOR'S MANUAL.
Visually check for oil leakage.
6. Cycle cylinder a few times and recheck cylinder and cover bolts torque.
7. Install center guard (4, Fig. 10C.10), lower guard (2) and upper guard (3) to the blade tilt
cylinder (1).
