TRANSMISSION
4. Be sure the O-rings (27 and 28, Fig. 7C.7) are properly seated. Position the transmission close
by the machine and attach the hoist to lifting eyebolt installed in the threaded hole
(7, Fig. 7C.2) 1/2”-13UNC-2B. Position the transmission (2, Fig. 7C.5) into place and move it
back toward the main frame (4), being sure the output shaft splines with the steering drive
pinion shaft sleeve. Secure the transmission (2) to the main frame (4) with the hardware
previously removed. Torque the mounting bolts (1) to 920 [Nm].
5. Remove the hoisting equipment. Remove the lifting eyebolt from the top of the transmission.
6. Be sure the mating surfaces of the range selector valve (10, Fig.7C.1), pressure regulator
valve (5) and transmission manifold (2) are clean. Reinstall the valves (with hoses still
attached) with new mounting O-rings (6 and 7) on the transmission manifold (2).
7. Install the transmission drive yoke on the splines of the input shaft. Install the universal joint
(3, Fig. 7C.3) between the torque converter and transmission (1). Secure the universal joint to
the transmission drive yoke and to the torque converter output flange. Torque the bolts to
136 [Nm].
CAUTION! Remove the wire or tape used to keep the bearings from falling from the
spider trunnions. If installing a new spider and bearing assembly, remove the soft
iron strap attached to the bearing caps. This will eliminate the possibility of the
straps or wire breaking loose from the caps and causing personal injury when the
engine is running.
8. Install input shaft RPM sensor (5, Fig. 7C.5) into transmission (2). Carefully screw the sensor
(5) in as far as it will go and until it just touches directional shaft drum. Undo the sensor 1 3/4
turns and lock it with a lock nut. Reconnect the electrical harness to the RPM sensor (5).
9. Install suction strainer (3) to the main frame (4).
10. Reconnect the lube hose (4, Fig. 7C.3) to the transmission.
11. Install the strainer (2, Fig. 7C.4) to the transmission (1). Reconnect the transmission scavenge
tube (6, Fig. 7C.3) to the transmission (1) and install bracket (5) to the output shaft manifold.
12. Reconnect torque converter supply hose (6, Fig. 7C.2) to the pressure regulator valve (4).
Reconnect supply hose (10) to the pressure regulator valve (4).
13. Reinstall hydraulic damper (9) on the rear ROPS bracket.
14. Install pressure switches (12) to the range selector valve (14). Reconnect the electrical
harness (13) to the pressure switches (12).
15. Install the equipment pump (1) on the torque converter. Refer to SECTION 10A for this
procedure.
16. Reconnect fan motor drain hose (8) to the cross located on the rear ROPS bracket.
17. Reconnect the breather hose (15) to the transmission (5).
18. Install the ROPS, cab and platform, refer to SECTION 13, SUPERSTRUCTURE.
19. Refill the main frame as described in the OPERATOR’S MANUAL. Start the engine. Check for
leakage. If the main and range clutch oil warning lamp is lighting, make inspection and repair.
20. Check the oil pressures in the transmission as described in SECTION 7, Paragraph 10,
TRANSMISSION AND TORQUE CONVERTER OIL PRESSURE TEST.
21. Install the front center floor plate and the transmission case guard.
22. Check the rear frame oil level and add if necessary.
23. After first 50 hours of operation change the pressure filters.
