TRANSMISSION

15. Install retaining ring (2) on the shaft (1).

16. Turn the shaft assembly over in the stand so that the splined end is down.

17. Install sleeve (15) with new O-ring (16) in third clutch piston (22) and install dowel pins (22A)

Install piston assy (22) on the shaft (1).

18. Install six springs (11) in third clutch piston (22). Position plate (37) over the springs (11) and

compress by pressing down on plate with C clamps as shown in Fig. 7C.35. Install retaining
ring (27) and remove C clamps.

19. Alternately install one internally splined friction disc (31) and one externally splined separator

plate (32) in drum (36). There are twelve discs (31) and eleven plates (32) used in this clutch
pack. Install clutch support plate (35).

20. Install spacer (26), thrust bearing (4) with thrust races (3) on the shaft (1).

21. Position third clutch gear (25) over the end of the shaft (1). Be sure all the internally splined

discs (31) are aligned in drum (36) and that the gear meshes with all the discs. Install retaining
ring (28).

22. Install bearing (5) in the bore of gear (25).

23. Install thrust bearing (4) with thrust races (3), bearing (5) and first clutch gear (38) on the shaft

(1). Install following thrust bearing (4) with races (3), bushing (39), spacer ring (40), retaining
ring (8) and spring retainer plate (9).

24. Position clutch support plate (35) in drum (46) and install retaining ring (28).

25. Position drum (46) over the end of the shaft so that the support plate (35) is down and resting

on first clutch gear (38).

26. Alternately install one internally splined friction disc (33) and one externally splined separator

plate (34) in drum (46). There are fourteen discs (33) and thirteen plates (34) in this clutch
pack.

27. Install sleeve (13) with new O-ring (16) in the bore of first clutch piston (41). Position retainer

plates (14) on piston (41). Apply LOCTITE 262 to the bolts and secure the plates. Torque the
bolts to 37 [Nm].

28. Coat springs (12) with grease and inserts them in first clutch piston (41). Position the piston

assy (41) over the shaft (1) so the springs (12) rest inside plate (9).
