22. Install the shim pack (32), previously
disassembled or selected in Step 21,
on the top surface of output shaft (14).
Install thrust washer (33) and secure it to
the shaft with the bolt (33A). Apply
LOCTITE #243 to the bolt and torque to
83 ÷ 101 [Nm].
23. If bearing (31) and housing cover (35)
have not been replaced use previously
removed shim pack (34).
If one of parts (31 or 35) have been
changed proceed as follows for checking
and obtaining proper end gap. Place
washer (G) (see Service/Special Tools
in this Section) of minimum thickness
of 2 [mm] onto ball bearing (31). Install
housing cover (35) on ball bearing (31)
and torque the cover to drive housing (30)
with bolts (35A) and washers (35B) to be
sure bearing (31) is properly seated in
drive housing (30) bore.
24. Remove cover (35) and washer (G).
Measure the (P4) distance within housing
cover (35) and the (P3) distance between
ball bearing face (31) and drive housing
(30) faying face. Select shims pack (34)
thickness (X2) so the (L) gap between
bearing (31) and cover (35) gets the
dimension of 0.0 to 0.1 [mm]. Using virgin
lead to measure the distance is
acceptable too.
L (0.0 ÷ 0.1) = P3 + X2 – P4
NOTE: Be sure bearing outer race (31)
bottoms the bore chamber of drive
housing (30).
