Arming the acquisition
The Start acquire command (i.e. pressing Start button, or receiving a Start
Acquisition from a batch sequence) arms the acquisition electronics in the Lynx, and
if the External Control is disabled (
None
is selected), then data storage begins
immediately. When the External Control is set to other than
None
, then the storage of
data is conditioned by the setting of the External Start/Stop Control, as described in
the next section.
External Start/Stop
Both PHA and MCS datasources support external start/stop control through their
respective rear-panel connector.
The External Start/Stop control may be set to
None
,
Start
,
Stop
,
Start & Stop
, or
Suspend & Resume
. Within the context of external control, some documents refer to
the
Start
,
Stop
, and
Start & Stop
selection as the
DSA-2000
mode or
Pulse
mode,
whereas the
Suspend & Resume
selection as the
Lynx
mode or
Level
mode.
Please refer to the
External Controls
on page 93 for detailed explanations of each
setting.
Input Size
Select the Lynx’s full memory size. The memory size settings range from 256 to
32768 channels. Note that if the datasource was defined through the MID Wizard, the
input size selected in the wizard becomes the upper limit here.
Computational Presets
Defines a computational preset condition to terminate PHA acquisition.
Computational Presets are available only for PHA datasources. For MCS datasources
this option will be disabled (grayed out).
These presets stop acquisition when a computed value you specify is reached. When
a computational preset is defined, the selected time preset is still active; acquisition
will be terminated by the preset condition that is reached first. If you want to use a
computational preset alone, set the time preset to 0 which means “forever”. This
insures that the computational preset will be reached first.
The Computational Presets are mutually exclusive with each other, but any one can
be combined with either a live time or real time preset.
None
Selecting
None
disables all computational presets. Only the time preset will be used
in this case.
