Setting Up a Modem Connection
Remote Access Services (RAS) is used to connect with Lynx via RS-232 modem,
which is used for your External Modem application.
Setting Up RAS for a Modem Connection
Default RAS General Options
The General factory-default options for RAS are as follows:

Enable:

(RAS in Lynx is enabled by default)

Media setting (
Serial Line
or
Modem
) for RAS is Serial Line. This affects the manner
in which Windows will interact with Lynx for its setup. If you change this setting,
your Windows steps may differ somewhat from the examples given.
Even though RAS defaults to
enabled
, there is no 'default' operation available to
establish an initial connection; RAS must be configured before this service will be
functional.
Default RAS Parameters for Lynx
Factory defaults set in Lynx are used to establish RAS connections in this section.

The setup of a RAS account also requires the device’s system name. The default

for the Lynx is:

Windows RAS Settings for Modem
To use a modem with the RS-232 connection, you'll have to create a RAS Direct
Serial Connection Phonebook entry on your Windows PC.

On your Windows PC, right-click on the
My Network Places
desktop icon
and then select
Properties
. You will see the Network Connections page.
You will create a new connection definition here.
