SSM Multicast Forwarding (IGMPv3 Host Alternative)
The following procedure can be used as an alternative to SSM multicast forwarding. It configures the IGMPv3 host on the
network side.
Configure Network to Cable SSM Data Forwarding Using IGMPv3 Host on NSI
1.
Enable the IGMP router/querier on the cable-mac. Default is IGMPv2.
configure interface cable-mac <mac> ip igmp
2.
Enable the IGMP router/querier on the cable-mac for IGMPv3.
Note: This is required for MDF-enabled cable modems.
configure interface cable-mac <mac> ip igmp version 3
3.
For each DS cable interface that needs to carry multicast traffic, a proxy interface must be assigned for receiving the
multicast traffic:
configure interface cable-mac <mac> ip igmp proxy-interface <ten>gigabitethernet
<slot>/<port>[.<subif>]
4.
A backup proxy interface may also be configured:
configure interface cable-mac <mac> ip igmp backup-proxy-interface <ten>gigabitethernet
<slot>/<port>[.<subif>]
5.
Configure the IGMPv3 host on the network side interface:
configure interface ethernet 17/<port> igmp host-version 3
configure interface ethernet 18/<port> igmp host-version 3
IGMP Visibility
Several commands support and verify router information and configurations. This section provides a list of commands with
output examples.
To verify router configurations:
show ip igmp interfaces <cable-mac 1>
IGMP interface cable-mac 1:
IGMP host configured version is 2
IGMP host version 1 querier timer is 0h0m0s
