The internal ozone generator provides easy determination of zero,
precision, and Level 1 span checks. The ozone level produced is a function
of light intensity at 185 nm and gas flow. The light intensity is varied by
changing the current into the lamp. The gas flow is held constant by a
pressure regulator followed by a capillary.
The photometer measures ozone concentration and is used to control
ozone output.
The permeation oven is an alternate method for producing span
concentrations of stable gases such as SO
2
, H
2
S, NO
2
, etc. The operation of
the permeation oven relies on precise regulation of the temperature of the
oven in which a small container of liquified gas (permeation tube) that
