Note An important feature of the 146iQ is the incorporation of the
cylinder composition in the information sent down to the gas mass flow
controller(s) to better account for the variability in gas properties that may
affect their mass flow. This feature also allows a user to not have to
calibrate their gas mass flow controller(s) for a particular gas, and instead
uniformly calibrate all their flow controllers with air/N
2
and allow the gas
composition information to inform and compensate for differences in gas
properties between air/N
2
and the actual gas flowing through the flow
controller(s) at any given time. This feature will ensure accurate mass flow
outputs at all times regardless of the gas flowing through the flow
controller(s). In order for the cylinder composition to be utilized in mass
flow control and metering, it is essential that the user accurately defines
their cylinders in the Cylinder Setup screen
Additionally, in order to fully deploy the benefits of gas composition
compensation, it is important that the cylinder gas and balance gas are
chosen from the pre-populated list of gases in the Gas Name and Tank
Balance Gas columns, respectively. If the user enters a custom name, the
flow controllers will assume that the gas is Air.
