Problem Possible Cause Action
Output signal noisy Recorder Replace or repair recorder.
Sample is varying Run instrument on stable ozone
source. If quite, No malfunction?
Foreign material in cell Clean cell.
Sticky solenoid valve Replace with known-good solenoid
valve.
Analyzer does not calibrate
properly Leak Check all tubing connections for
leak.
Contaminated scrubber Perform scrubber efficiency test.
Replace if needed.
Flow/Pressure out of
calibration Recalibrate flow/pressure. Refer to
the “
Calibration ” chapter.
Dirty system Clean cells and flow components.
Solenoid defective Replace with known-good solenoid
valve.
Slow response Averaging time Verify averaging time is set
properly.
Contaminated
photometer
Clean bench and then condition
system overnight.
Flow controller unstable Leak Perform a leak check.
Defective MFC Replace mass flow controller as
needed.
No Ozone output Defective lamp Check for blue light when removing
ozone lamp from ozonator and
replace lamp if light is not visible.
Ozonator heater failure Verify the ozonator is warm (>50
° C). If not warm replace heater.
Defective DMC board Replace DMC board as needed.

Lamp temp Defective lamp heater Replace ozonator, lamp driver
board or lamp assembly.
Alarm –Lamp temp Defective lamp heater Replace bench lamp driver board or
lamp assembly.
Alarm – Perm Gas Temp Incorrect Perm oven set
temperature or alarm
setting Check that the alarm settings
match the set temperature.
Perm oven heater
thermistor or gas
thermistor error Replace thermistor.
Perm oven failure Replace the Perm oven.
Alarm – Flow Flow low Check sample capillary for
blockage. Replace as necessary.
