Device Behaviour in Relation to the Coast Speed
As the motor speed slows and reaches coast speed (*), the system maintains that motor speed. This is to avoid back flow
of circulation if users further decrease the motor speed. In order to decrease the motor speed to less than the coast speed,
confirmation (coast release) is required.
The following example describes a case in which the motor speed is increased from 0 RPM to 2000 RPM (1) and then the speed is
decreased to 0 RPM (2).
* Coast speed can be set within the range of 500 to 2000 RPM (factory setting: 1250 RPM).
Set the motor speed at which back flow does not occur in accordance with clinical requirements. (Refer to “Setting the Coast
Speed” (page 108).)
(1) When the motor speed is increased from 0 RPM to 2000 RPM
0 RPM Coast speed 2000 RPM
(2) When the motor speed is decreased from 2000 RPM to 0 RPM
Coast release
The coast release is performed with either of the following methods:
Message display
Press [OK] to decrease
the motor speed less
than the coast speed.
The Coast release button
flashes in orange.
Press the button to decrease the
motor speed less than the coast
speed.

When further
decreasing the motor
speed, the orange lamp
is turned off. When decreasing the motor speed
to the coast speed, it maintains
the coast speed. The message is
displayed, and the coast release
button flashes in orange.

lamp is turned off.
