Proxy Properties: SMTP—Smart Server tab
Use the Smart Server tab to specify an external server to be used to relay outgoing mail if the
transparent server is not available.

Proxy Properties: SMTP—ODMR tab
Use the ODMR tab to enable on-demand mail relay (ODMR) and specify the port to use if you do not
want to use the default port, 366.
Caution:
Do not change the port number unless you are instructed to do so by Symantec Technical
Support.

Proxy Properties: SMTP—Description tab
Optionally, provides an extended description. This information is useful to help track changes or it can
be used as criteria for searches.
The maximum length is 20,000 alphanumeric characters.

Field
Description
Smart server IP
IP address of the outgoing Smart Server to which the security gateway relays email if the
transparent server is unavailable. This is required only when you experience problems with
internal mailers not properly handling mail exchange (MX) rollover.

Field
Description
Enable on-demand mail relay
Enables support for the Extended SMTP (ESMTP) command ATRN (Authenticated
Turn) to provide on-demand relay.
Port
TCP port number on which ODMR is provided.
The default port number, 366, is the recommended port to provide on-demand
mail relay services. Do not change this port unless advised by Symantec Technical
Support.
