Event dialog box
The Event dialog box lets you view information about an event. You can also copy or print the detailed
description of the event.
Associated tasks
The task that you can perform with this dialog box is:

Field
Description
Type
Identifies the event category.
Events are assigned to one of the following categories:
■
Informational
Indicates the security gateway is operating properly.
■
Notice
Indicates a situation requiring minor attention.
■
Warning
Indicates an error condition that the security gateway can recover from, but requires
attention to prevent further occurrences.
■
Error
Indicates that a normal security gateway operation cannot complete successfully. The
security of your gateway is still ensured, but you should attempt to correct the error as
soon as possible.
■
Alert
Indicates that a security rule has been triggered, and could potentially be an attempt to
breach the network perimeter.
■
Critical
Indicates that the security gateway security is still working, but one or more services
have failed.
■
Emergency
Indicates an emergency. The system will no longer allow traffic through. Security is
ensured by shutting down all network traffic through the security gateway.
■
Unknown
Issued only when Symantec Technical Support runs a diagnostic program.
Event
Description of the event.
Classification
Major class under which this event falls.
Gateway
Host name of the security gateway on which the event occurred.
Component
Security gateway daemon or action that is being logged.
Process ID
Process ID of the component.
Source
IP address of the source of the event.
Destination
Port number of the destination of the event.
Rule
If a rule triggered an event, the name of the rule.
Details
Detailed description of the event.
When the event type indicates a problem with the security gateway, use this description to
identify the component that is causing the problem.
Copy
Copies the event to the clipboard so that you can paste into other applications.
Prints the text of the message.
