To view a quick status of the security gateway

In the SGMI, at the top of the left pane, click the appliance icon.
The quick status information displays in the right pane.

Monitoring connections
The SGMI has several tabs in the Status window that let you monitor the current status of the
connections to the appliance, including:

The Connections Summary tab shows a summary of all connection traffic.
■
The Active Connections tab lists the current active connections including VPNs. On this tab you
can also terminate active connections.
■
The AntiVirus Servers tab shows the status of the virus scanning engine and definitions used by
the client compliance feature. It also shows the status of the antivirus servers.
■
The Hardware Encryption Diagnostics tab run tests on the Symantec Gateway Security 5600 Series
hardware accelerator chip and shows if it is working properly.
■
The Clientless VPN Failed Logons tab lists user accounts that are locked out due to exceeding the
allowed number of failed logon attempts. You can unlock locked user accounts from this list.
You can manually refresh this information at anytime using the Refresh icon on the toolbar. You can
also enable automatic refreshing using the Automatic Refresh icon on the toolbar.
Viewing the connection summary
The Connection Summary tab provides a summary of the connections to the security gateway, the
types of protocol running on them, and the volume of traffic on those connections.

To view the connection summary

In the SGMI, in the left pane, under
Monitors
, click
Status
.

In the right pane, on the Connection Summary tab, in the Connection Summary table, select an
entry, and then click
Properties
.

In the Connection Summary Properties dialog box, you can view the following properties of the
selected connection.
Protocol
The protocol running on the connection.
Open Connections
The number of open connections.
