Configuring an external server to relay email
With the procedure in this section, you can designate an external mail server to handle electronic mail
when your normal mail server is unavailable. This is only required if you experience problems with
internal mail servers not properly handling mail exchange (MX) rollover. Changes you make take affect
immediately after the configuration is saved and activated.
Prerequisites
Complete the following tasks before beginning this procedure:

To configure an external server to relay email

In the SGMI, in the left pane, under Assets, click
Proxies
.

In the right pane, on the Proxies tab, click the SMTP proxy and then click
Properties
.

In the SMTP proxy properties dialog box, on the Smart Server tab, in the Smart server IP text box,
type the IP of the server to which you want to relay email.

Click
OK
.

Optionally, do one of the following:

To save your configuration now and activate later, on the toolbar, click
Save
.
■
To activate your configuration now, on the toolbar, click
Activate
.

When prompted to save your changes, click
Yes
.

Enabling On-demand mail relay (ODMR)
Enabling On-demand mail relay configures the SMTP proxy to support the authenticated TURN
(ATRN) extended SMTP (ESMTP) command to provide on-demand mail relay. You should enable this
feature to let users retrieve their email if your server uses a dynamic IP address. Changes you make
take affect immediately after the configuration is saved and activated.
Prerequisites
Complete the following tasks before beginning this procedure:

In the Proxy Properties dialog box, on the ODMR tab, check
Enable on-demand mail relay
.

In the Port text box, type the port.

Click
OK

Activate
