Pakscan IIE System Manual

Publication S177E V2.0 Issue 03/05
The screen automatically builds a list showing all the field units in the order in which they are wired on
the Pakscan loop. For this loop to be complete the actuators must all be powered up. The list includes
details on the device type, the tag entered and the number of times the field unit has failed to respond.
The ‘fails count’ can be used to indicate the current condition of each field unit. The counter
increments for each message not acknowledged correctly even if communication is subsequently
established within the 3 retry limit.
In addition the status of the field cable is shown and the location of any fault that is present, together
with the nature of the fault. Any device in loopback is indicated in the table by shading the cells.
The loop can be reset and the map refreshed by using the two buttons provided.
12.5.4 FCU
Menu
The FCU menu screen shows a list of all the field units on the system together with their tag name and
actuator type. The list is in address order and includes any devices that are currently missing from the
loop either because they are powered off or they have not yet been connected, but are within the span
of the highest address to scan up to.
If there is an alarm present for the field unit then the alarm indicator will flash.
Clicking on the FCU Control button reveals the control screen for the field Unit
