6.3 Do not allow limbs to come between drum and
drum handling equipment when mounting drum
handling equipment. Caution, danger of fingers being
crushed!
DANGER
If users have their limbs in shearing/
clamping areas of the drum handling
equipment while picking up or lifting
the drum, there is a danger of those
limbs being crushed.
6.4 Before the drum is picked up, it must be securely
supported from below or grasped around its circum-
ference by the respective drum handling equipment.
DANGER
If the drum is not securely
supported from below, grasped
around its circumference, clamped
or secured with a belt etc. by the
drum gripper, it can fall.
6.5 When using a drum handling equipment on a fork-
lift, the drum handling equipment must be locked in
place with the locking screw on the underside of the
fork-lift pocket. Always secure crane hook when using
on a crane hook!
DANGER
The drum handling equipment and
the drum can fall if the drum
handling equipment is accidentally
released during the fork-lift/crane
movement.
6.6 Always list the drum vertically and above all hori-
zontally and swing-free. Avoid swinging, sudden lifting
and lowering and jolting of the drum. Always ensure
sufficient distance to the surrounding obstacles when
lifting and during transport!
DANGER
If the drum handling equipment is
lifted at an angle or moved suddenly,
it tends to swing. As a result, the
drum handling equipment can
seriously injure persons and/or
stroke obstacles.
6.7 Never lift and transport too quickly; do not enter
danger area. Never lift drums over persons or past
safety areas.
DANGER
In case of collisions with obstacles
or careless set-down, people
standing or walking under hanging
drums can be seriously injured or
killed.
6.8 The drum must be set down swing-free at the
destination. Ensure a secure stance of the drum when
setting it down. When setting down the drum, be sure
not to set it down on adjacent objects.
DANGER
If the drum is set down at an angle,
it may fall out or tilt.
6.9 The drum handling equipment may not be opened
until the drum has been set down completely and is
standing firmly. Lift off the drum handling equipment
vertically and swing-free. When raising, make sure that
the drum handling equipment does not get caught on
obstacles.
DANGER
If the drum handling equipment gets caught on an
obstacle when lifting while empty, it can swing heavily
and injure persons and damage surrounding
machines in the process.
