IOPn.MtcEthP status: A duplicate address has been detected on device x (y).
Variables
x – the logical device identifier for this adapter (for example, Ethernet0)
y – the Windows NT device name (for example, E100B2)
Severity
Error
Description
The local IOP is receiving packets from an IOP other than one that is the opposite member of
this HP NetServer AA system. Because the network address used to route these packets is
based on the HP NetServer AA kit number, this message results from there being another
system on the local area network that has been installed with the same kit number.
This problem should be corrected immediately. Network traffic between the HP NetServer AA
systems in conflict and other systems on the network may become disrupted. You may lose
packets or otherwise encounter network connectivity problems.
To minimize disruption to other systems, the redirected network devices of the HP NetServer
AA configuration that has been running the least amount of time are faulted. You can use the
HP NetServer AA Manager to reenable them once the source of the problem has been
corrected.
Action
•
Start the HP NetServer AA Manager on the local IOP.
•
From the menu bar, select View Revision Levels... . The first line displayed contains the
HP NetServer AA kit number.
•
Use the HP NetServer AA Manager on the IOPs on other HP NetServer AA systems in the
network to find the system with the duplicate HP NetServer AA kit number.
•
Shut down one of the systems in conflict and reinstall the HP NetServer AA software on
the IOPs and the CEs, using the unique HP NetServer AA kit number that was shipped
with the HP NetServer AA software for that system.
Related Messages
IOPn.MtcMon Fault Handler status: The Fault Handler received a packet
from another IOP that is not a member of this HP NetServer AA system.
This may mean that you have multiple HP NetServer AA systems on your
network with the same HP NetServer AA Kit Number. This problem should be
corrected immediately; otherwise, you may lose network packets or
encounter network connectivity problems.
