MAINTENANCE
ENGINE OIL STRAINER SCREEN IN OIL
TANK
Engine and exhaust system parts become h o t
and remain h o t for some time after the engine is run.
Wear insulated gloves.
Drain the engine oil (page 3-10).
Disconnect the oil pipe from the lower side of the oil
tank by loosening the flare nut.
STRAINER SCR
Remove the oil strainer screen.
Wash the strainer screen thoroughly in high flash
point solvent until a l l accumulated dirt has been
removed.
Blow the screen dry with compressed air, or leave it in
a well ventilated place until the solvent has evaporated.
Before installing the strainer screen, it should be
examined closely for damage.
Coat a new O-ring with engine oil and install it onto
the oil strainer screen.
Install the strainer screen and tighten it.
TORQUE: 54 (5.5 40
Connect the oil pipe over the strainer by screwing the
flare nut. Tighten the flare nut.
TORQUE: 20 (2.0 14
Fill the engine and oil tank with the engine oil (page
3-10).

ENGINE IDLE SPEED
NOTE:
Inspect and adjust the idle speed after
all
other
engine maintenance items have been performed
and are within specifications.
Engine must be warm for accurate adjustment.
Ten minutes of stop-and-ao
is
sufficient.
Warm up the engine, shift the transmission into neu-
tral and place the vehicle on
a
level surface.
idle speed and adjust by turning the throttle
stop screw as required.
