HYDRAULIC DISC BRAKE
BRAKE
FRONT BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT
Always
replace
the brake pads in
pairs to
even
sure.
Remove the front wheel (page
Remove the pad pin plugs and loosen the pad pins.
Release the brake hose from the clamp.
Remove the mounting bolts and front brake caliper.
Push the caliper piston all the way in to allow instal-
lation
of
new brake pads.
NOTE:
Check the brake fluid level in the brake reservoir as
this operation causes the level to rise.
Pull the pad pins out of the caliper body while push-
ing in the pads against the pad spring.
Remove the brake pads.
Make sure that the pad spring is in position as
shown.
Install new brake pads into the caliper body with the
shim facing toward the piston.
Install the pad pins by pushing in the pads against
the pad spring to align the pad pin holes in the pads
and caliper body.
Install the front brake caliper so the disc
is positioned
between the pads, being careful not to damage the
pads.
Install new mounting bolts and tighten them.
TORQUE:
30
(3.1 22
Secure the brake hose with the clamp.
Tighten the pad pins.
TORQUE: 18 13
Install the pad pin plugs and tighten them.
TORQUE 3 10.3 2.2
Operate the brake lever to seat the caliper piston
against the pads.
