SUPERCHARGE
The engine is equipped with turbocharger, using energy of ex-
haust gases for boosting of the engine. Increasing mass of air supplied
in the cylinders, turbocharger promotes more effective combustion of
the increased doze of fuel, owing to the engine power raises at moder-
ate thermal intensity.
TURBOCHARGER
The turbocharger (fig. 35) consists of the one-stage centrifugal
compressor and the radial centripetal turbine.
The turbine wheel 14 and impeller 23 are located on the oppo-
site ends of the rotor shaft, the bearing bushing 17 is located between
wheels.
The impeller 23 is half-open type, with back-swept blades, is
made of aluminium alloy. It is fitted on the shaft and saved with nut.
The working turbine wheel 14 half-open type with radial blades,
is made of heat-resistant nickel alloy. It joined with shaft with friction
welding.
The turbine housing is made of heat-resistant cast-iron. The gas
enters to turbine wheel through two channels.
The compressor housing 4, insert and bearing housing cover 6
are made of aluminium alloy. The bearing housing cover 6 is attached
to bearing housing with bolts 3 and with special tight composition
In the turbocharger is used the fluid bearing 17 – aluminium
bushing. It installed in boring of cast-iron bearing housing12 and
stopped from axial moving with bolt 10. The bearing is oiled under
pressure from engine lubrication system
The carefully balanced rotor is installed in the bearing bushing
17. The axial forces acting on the rotor are perceived by the thrust
bearing 2. On each end of the rotor shaft are installed the sealing piston
ring type rings 16, made of special cast-iron
The turbocharger fastened to exhaust collector for the turbine
housing flange. The outlet pipe of the compressor housing is connected
through branch pipes to the engine inlet collectors, or to the charge air
after-cooler.
