Cause Remedy
Brushes jammed, burnt
commutator
Carry out preventive maintenance
of brush-commutator unit
STARTER DOES NOT OPERATE
( at it switching light of headlights not weaken)
Bad contact of brushes with
commutator Wipe commutator with cloth
soaked in gasoline or grind it with
emery cloth. Clean lateral surfaces
of brushes or replace them. Check
condition of brush springs and in
case of their malfunction – replace
them. Check brushes on jamming in
brush holder.
Power-supply open circuit
or malfunction in wires Check starter circuit and eliminate
malfunction
SOLENOID SWITCH WORKS WITH FAULTS
(switch in starter and immediately switches off it)
Storage battery discharged Charge or replace storage battery
Open-circuit in holding
winding of solenoid switch
Replace switch
AT STARTER SWITCHING CHARACTERISTIC
