Clean the oil filler of dust and dirt, open the filler cap and
fill the engine sump with clean oil of recommended grade (de-
pending on ambient air temperature), until it is in level with
mark “B” available on the oil dipstick. After oil is primed, close
the filler cap tightly.

Clean the fuel tank filler of dust and dirt, open the filler cap,
make sure the cleanness of fuel tank, fill the tank with pure fuel
of recommended grade depending on air temperature and tightly
close the filler cap.

Prime the engine fuel feed system with fuel, using manual
fuel priming pump.

Fill the cooling system with coolant of the recommended
grade.

Clean of dust and dirt the filling and control plugs of gear
box, screw out them and fill the gear box case up to control hole
of oil level with pure oil of recommended grade depending on
air temperature then tight the plugs.

By outside inspection make sure of reliable tightness of
pipelines and units of lubrication, fuel feed and cooling systems.
If necessary tighten up the joints.

By installing the governor clamp in position "

" (fig. 50) of
the off fuel supply, within 10-15 seconds crank the engine
crankshaft with starter and under the reading of the pressure
gauge indicate an availability of the oil pressure in the main oil
channel. The switch of the fan drive would be in position “A” –
automatic mode. If the pressure is – start the engine.
PREPARING FOR
STARTING IN DAILY OPERATION

Make sure that there is sufficient amount of fuel in fuel tank.

Check the oil level in the engine oil sump and, if necessary,
fill it with pure oil up to the upper mark of the oil dipstick.

Check the presence of coolant and its level in the cooling
system.

Check reliability of joints and easy travel of the fuel supply
control mechanism components.
5
Fill the engine fuel feed system with fuel with the help of
manual fuel priming pump.
