Check the inlet duct for tightness by building overpressure in-
side it and adding smoke. In checking the air inlet duct for tightness,
install the stopper shown in fig. 78 in the place of the filter element.
Attach smouldering stuff on the inside of the stopper (oakum, indus-
trial cotton wool, etc).

The stopper dimensions depend on the sizes of a filtering ele-
ment of the air filter, on which place is installed the stopper. Connect a
compressed-air source to a stopper pipe diameter. 10x1 and a check
tube with a valve or clamp to the other pipe. As the compressed-air
source use a tyre pump or the industrial compressed-air mains at a
pressure of 10-20 kPa (0.1-0.2 kgf/cm2).

Open the check tube for while and make sure the inlet duct is
filled with smoke. Then supply air into the duct for 2-3 min., while
examining the inlet duct on the outside. Smoke will get out at non-tight
points.
