GEAR BOX OPERATION
The gear shifting from first till fourth and from fifth till eighth
make by moving of the shift lever to the appropriate position (fig. 104).
At control of the gear box with the help of a mechanical remote
drive the positions of the shift lever handle can differ from given on the
scheme and they are specified in the Vehicle Operation Manual.

For shifting from fourth to the fifth gear move the button of the
auxiliary transmission engaging to position of the highest range engag-
ing at the fourth gear shifted in the basic gearbox (the arrangement of
auxiliary transmission control members is specified in the Vehicle Op-
eration Manual). Then transfer the shift lever to a neutral position.
Wait and, when the signal lamp will off, shift the fifth gear.
For transition from fifth gear to fourth shift with auxiliary
transmission engaging button the lowest range at the shifted fifth gear,
the vehicle speed should not exceed 35 km/h in this moment. Then the
shift lever transfer to the neutral position, wait and, when the signal
lamp will off, shift the fourth gear in the basic box.
At the moment of passing of the shift lever through the neutral
position there is an automatic shifting of ranges in the auxiliary trans-
mission. The attenuation of the signal lamp testifies on end of shifting
process of the ranges.
ATTENTION!
STANDING START OF LOADED VEHICLE
MAKE ONLY AT FIRST GEAR. STANDING START AT SECOND
GEAR IS ALLOWABLE ONLY ON HIGHWAY IF VEHICLE IS
LOADED PARTIALLY.
