When the background collection is complete, the info box shown in
Figure 5.17 opens.

Move the filter wheel as directed and click the OK button in
the info box.
Again the steps are shown in the Status line. A method is
downloaded, the diagnostics program waits for a few seconds for the
rise time filter to equilibrate, takes a holmium oxide scan, and then
displays a new info box as shown in Figure 5.18.

Click on the OK button (Figure 5.18) to close the info box and
view the results as shown in Figure 5.19.
All of the Delta values should be less than or equal to
±
1 nm. If the
Delta values exceed
±
1 nm, click on the “Apply” button and repeat
the wavelength calibration for verification. If, after applying a new
calibration, the Delta values still exceed
±
1 nm, call your
Thermo Electron representative for assistance. Don’t forget to apply
the new calibration results after each calibration.
