MONITORING THE
LIGHT INTENSITY
FROM
CHROMQUEST
As you manually adjust the attenuators, monitor the light intensities
from the ChromQuest data system as follows:
1.
Open the UV6000 Diagnostics - Control page.
2.
In the Control page, make the following selections and entries:
3.
Set the UNITS to INTENSITY.
4.
Enter the following settings for the scan data:
Start = 2
End = 511
Increment = 1
Bandwidth = 1
Rate = 1
5.
Enter the following settings for the discrete channels:
Channel A - Wavelength = 40 Bandwidth = 1
Channel B - Wavelength = 55 Bandwidth = 1
Channel C - Wavelength = 450 Bandwidth = 1
6.
Click on the LOAD TO DETECTOR button, (a confirmation
message box will appear). Click on OK.
7.
Go to the Status page and click on both green buttons, (Status
On and Data On).
8.
Adjust the attenuator with the longer black tab (left tab for
front chassis attentuators) (UV attentuation) to achieve the
following Channel A values:
•
Units with S/N 106000 to 107999: 640,000 to 660,000
•
Units with S/N 109000 and higher: 780,000 to 800,000
9.
Adjust the attenuator with the short black tab (right tab for
front chassis attenuators) (Vis attenuation) to achieve a
Channel C value within the ranges shown for step 7.
Note: When installing a UV6000, use water or methanol to set
the attenuators. When changing mobile phases, flow solvent
through the cell and readjust light levels accordingly.
10.
Tighten the attenuator locking screw, replace the lamp
compartment cover and foam insulation and slide the chassis
back into the detector housing.
