Rotate the standard filter wheel to position #2. This places the
holmium oxide-filled cuvette in the optical path. It is not necessary to
turn data collection off before you rotate the wheel. Once the wheel is
in position #2, the holmium oxide absorbance spectra will be
displayed as shown in Figure 5.8. Notice that the status indicator for
the filter wheel now reads

because the filter wheel is no longer in

position #1.

After inspecting the holmium oxide spectrum, be sure to return the
filter wheel to the open position (position #1).
