MONITORING THE
LIGHT INTENSITY
FROM ATLAS
As you manually adjust the attenuators, monitor the light intensities
by using the UV6000 Instrument Status - Display page, which is
accessed from the Atlas Instrument Manager application.
To monitor the light intensity from Atlas, do the following:
1.
Open the Display page for the UV6000 detector:

From the Windows taskbar, click on Start. Then go to
Programs (or All Programs), Atlas, Instrument Manager.
3.
Open the Instrument Status window for your instrument by
double-clicking on its icon.
4.
From the bank of tabs located at the bottom of the Instrument
Status window, click on the Detector tab.
5.
Click on the Display tab to open the Display page.
6.
In the Display page, select the Diode Number Intensity option
button. Then, verify the following settings:
Spectrum Start (Diode) = 2
Spectrum Stop (Diode) = 511
Channel A (Diode) = 40
Channel B (Diode) = 55
Channel C (Diode) = 450

Click on the Start button.
8.
Adjust the attenuator with the longer black tab (left tab for
front chassis attenuators) (UV attenuation) to achieve the
following Channel A values:
•
Units with S/N 106000 to 107999: 640,000 to 660,000
•
Units with S/N
≥
109000: 780,000 to 800,000
9.
Adjust the attenuator with the short black tab (right tab for
front chassis attenuators) (Vis attenuation) to achieve a
Channel C value within the ranges shown for step 4.
Note: Pump HPLC-grade water or methanol through the
LightPipe flowcell as you adjust the attenuators. When
changing mobile phases, pump solvent through the flowcell and
readjust light levels accordingly.
10.
Tighten the attenuator locking screw, replace the lamp
compartment cover and foam insulation and slide the chassis
back into the detector housing.
