and combined lamp spectra, save a copy of the
scan for your maintenance records.

Turn the deuterium (D
2
) lamp on again and exit from the
Diagnostics. Allow sufficient warm-up time before
acquiring data.
OPERATION
VERIFICATION USING
ATLAS
Verify the operation of your UV6000LP detector from the Atlas data
system as follows:
1.
Open the Maintenance page for the UV6000 detector (see
Figure 4.5):
a.
From the Windows taskbar, click on Start. Then go to
Programs (or All Programs for Windows XP), Atlas,
Instrument Manager.
b.
Open the Instrument Status window for your instrument by
double-clicking on its icon.
c.
From the bank of tabs located at the bottom of the
Instrument Status window, click on the Detector tab.
d.
Click on the Maintenance tab at the top of the window to
display the Maintenance page.

Check each lamps’ status and usage.
3.
If they are not already on, turn on both lamps by selecting their
respective Lamp On checkboxes.
NOTE: Atlas software will not initiate an analysis if the filter wheel is
not in position 1.
4.
After both lamps have warmed up for 1 hour, perform a dark
current calibration and then a wavelength calibration as
specified in Chapter 5. Use the wavelength calibration file
appropriate for your normal operation.
5.
Turn the tungsten - halogen (W) lamp off. This will allow you
to view the intensity spectrum of the deuterium (D
2
) lamp
alone.
