1-15-3. Update with the Network (ftp)

To operate the update with the network (ftp), be sure to connect this unit to the network.

.

Don’t upload with use of the standard FTP program installed originally in Windows 98 system in order
to avoid any suspension of the file transmission.

Exceptionally, however, it can be using a free software available to set time out by setting it to infini-
tude.

As a regular updating tool, GYDIRCtrl.exe is recommended common to the GY series and DIR-240.

1.

Enter “ftp [IP address]” from the MS-DOS prompt of the PC connected to the network.

2.

Enter the login name and the password as follows.

login : sony
password : gydir

3.

After login with ftp, enter “bin” following the prompt “ftp>” to set to the binary mode.

4.

Following the prompt “ftp>”, enter “put

[updated file name]

rom_all”.

The file is transferred from the ftp server.

When the error message appears during the file transfer, perform the procedures following the list
below.

After the transfer is completed, enter “quit” following the prompt “ftp>”.
Consequently, the firmware is automatically updated in the following order.

DSP CPU 

→

 SV1 CPU 

→

 SV2 CPU 

→

 SYS CPU 

→

 IF CPU 

→

 FMT CPU

After the update is all completed, this unit will be reactivated.

6.

Check that the firmware revision and the ROM version are updated.
(As for confirming method, refer to Section 1-15-1 or 1-15-2.)

Handling the ftp update errors

Message

Handling

“331 Password required for sony.”

Enter the correct password.
The password of “sony” is “gydir”, unchangeable.

“425 Can’t open data connection.”

Perform the operation again.
Turn the power OFF and then ON.

“450 File busy. Requested file action not taken.”

Set the Telnet/Serial maintenance port to the top menu.

“500 Syntax error, command unrecognized.”

Perform the operation again.

“501 Syntax error in parameters or arguments.”

Perform the operation again.

“502 Command not implemented.”

Use the correct command.

“504 Command not implemented for that parameter.”

Use the correct parameter.

“530 Not logged in.”

Operate login. Normally such an error does not arise.

“550 [file name] No such file or directory.”

Use the correct file name.
The files are log_all and rom_all only.

“500 user not found.”

Use the correct user.
The user is only “sony”, addition and change are not
permitted.
