5. Installing the Drum Assembly

(1) Hold the drum assembly as shown in the

figure and connect the three harnesses
disconnected in (6) of step 3.

Hold the drum support, not to hold the upper
drum and the brush slip ring assembly.

Pay attention to the orientation of the
connectors.

(2) Align the two positioning holes of the drum

assembly with the two positioning pins of the
MD base assembly while pulling up the drum
harnesses shown in the figure.

Avoid pulling the drum harnesses forcibly, or
the harnesses may come off the drum assembly.

Be careful not to touch the CTL/TC head
and tape guide at that time.

Be careful not to put the harnesses between
the lower drum and the MD base assembly.

(3) Confirm that the drum assembly is firmly

inserted into the positioning pins.

(4) Rotate the upper drum manually counterclock-

wise and align the upper drum assembly holes
with the fixing screw position.

(5) Tighten the screw temporarily.
(6) Tighten other two screws temporarily in the

same way in steps (4) and (5).

(7) Tighten the three screws in turns counter-

clockwise for each by two or three turns.

Tightening torque: 78.4

(8) Fix the drum harnesses at the leaf spring (2),

then install with the two screws.

6. Connecting the Flexible Card Wire

Connect the flexible card wire into the connector
CN2 on the HN-258 board, then lock.

7. Cleaning

Clean the portions below.
(1) Upper drum’s tape running surface and rotary

heads. (Refer to Section 2-2-2.)

(2) Lower drum’s tape running surface and lead

surface. (Refer to Section 2-2-3.)

After cleaning, wipe with a dry cleaning cloth.
