1-15. Update of the Firmware
This unit is equipped with a dedicated update file to update the internal firmware.
To update the firmware, following five methods are provided.
(1) Update with the SCSI tool
(2) Update with the serial port
(3) Update with the dedicated cassette
(4) Update with the network (ftp)
(5) Update using PSC
For (1), refer to “1-12. SCSI Control Software scsitool.exe”.
For (2), (3), (4) and (5), refer to the descriptions in this section.
Select the best method according to the usage environment.
The four methods differ in length of time to update. (1) is shortest, then (3), (5), (4) and then (2).
Refer this information as your convenience.

Completing the update, the internal log information is cleared regardless of the update method. If the
internal log information is necessary, record log before executing update.

Connecting and setting the unit
1. Connect the OPTION1 port of this unit to the serial port in the PC with a RS-232C cross cable.
2. Make a setting of the RS-232C port in the PC as follows.

Baud rate 38400 bps
Parity none
Flow control none
Stop bit 1 bit
Data bit length 8 bit
Updating
In the following method, a terminal emulator Tera Term is used.
1.
Copy the updated data (in this example, the data is “g8240r0860ld.dnl”) to the PC.
(For example, copying the data from the ftp sever via a network.)
2. Start the Tera Term.
3. Enter “UPDATE” in the starting display of this unit to enter the UPDATE mode.
(As for UPDATE mode, refer to Section 5-5.)
