Option
Description
Plate Name
Specifies the plate type for the protocol. You can select a configuration or you can
create a new plate configuration. The fields display values for the plate type you
select. If the plate type is not available in the Plate Name list, you can enter the
manufacturer’s plate specifications.
Note:
Plate files are stored in the C:\MX\plates folder.
The manufacturer generally cannot provide values for the plate
bottom settings, including optical thickness, which is not the same as
physical thickness, and bottom variation. You must run the Laser
Autofocus Wizard to measure the values to ensure proper focus. See
Considering Plate Dimensions on page 75
.
Save
Configuration
Displays the Save Configuration dialog where you name and save a new plate
configuration based on the plate type values.
Number of
Rows
Indicates the number of rows for the plate type.
Number of
Columns
Indicates the number of columns for the plate type.
Well Shape
Indicates the shape of the well, either Circle or Square.
Well Bottom
Indicates the shape of the well bottom, either Flat or Round.
Plate Bottom
Indicates the shape of the plate bottom, either Continuous or Segmented.
Continuous indicates the plate bottom is smooth and Segmented indicates the
plate bottom is not smooth such as U-bottom plates or plates with channels.
Well Diameter
Specifies the diameter of the well in µm.
Note: The wells for many plate types have a slight conical shape. If you
create a new plate configuration, enter the diameter of the bottom of the
well, not the top.
Column
Spacing
Specifies the spacing in µm between each well on the X axis.
Note: Generally, this value should be the same for both the X and Y axis;
however, if you create a new plate configuration, you can enter different
values, if needed.
Plate Length
Specifies the plate length in mm. The ANSI standard is 127.8 mm.
Column Offset
Specifies the distance in µm between the center of well A01 and the left edge of the
plate.
Row Spacing
Specifies the spacing in µm between each well on the Y axis.
Note: Generally, this value should be the same for both the X and Y axis.
However, if you create a new plate configuration, you can enter different
values, if needed.
