The following table describes how the WI Status icon indicates the status of the water
immersion system.
Icon System Status
The water immersion system and settings are appropriately configured.
When you begin an image acquisition, the icon displays a green check mark to indicate
that the water immersion system is initializing (the status bar at the bottom of the software
window displays the status of this process). Once initialization is complete, the system
automatically proceeds to acquire images and the icon continues to display a green check
mark.
An error is preventing image acquisition. See the error message that displays in red in the
software status bar at the bottom of the software window. This type of warning can
indicate, for example, that the cap is not tightly screwed on one of the water bottles, that
the source bottle is empty, or that the waste bottle is full.

On certain plates, outer wells might be blocked from acquisition to prevent collision with the
water immersion objective.
Note: The Shading Correction feature (on the Wavelengths tab in the Plate Acquisition
Setup dialog) is not fully compatible with water immersion objectives. The Auto
Correction for FL setting is partially compatible; the shading portion is compatible with
water immersion objectives, but the subtraction portion is not. A message will display,
but acquisition can continue, and the shading portion is still applied. The FL Subtraction
Only setting is not compatible with water immersion objectives.
If you switch objectives, the system drains the water from the water immersion objective
currently in use.
If you switch to a water immersion objective, then the system automatically dispenses
water above that objective before the first acquisition.
If you switch to an air objective, then the system opens the instrument top door and
prompts you to dry the bottom of the plate before you proceed to acquire subsequent
images.
CAUTION! If you switch from a water immersion objective to an air objective and plan to
acquire images using the same plate, you must dry the plate bottom to prevent water
damage to the air objective and the instrument.
