AC Voltage
The output battery charger is directly related to its input voltage; in case many vehicles are not
adequately charged within normal charge period, this indicates that the AC voltage is excessively low,
and the power supply company should be contacted to find out about specific conditions.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Generally speaking, troubleshooting should be fulfilled in two types of cases. The first type of case:
Battery works poorly and fails to meet the specifications provided by the manufacturer; in such a case,
just find out these batteries for replacement as per the terms of the guarantees issued by the
manufacturer. Different manufacturers have different requirements. Seek advice from battery
manufacturer or FAIRPLAY representative to find out about specific requirements.
The second type of case is to determine the cause why the vehicle fails to run normally. Any problem of
vehicle performance may result in slow vehicle running or failure of running in some cases.
New battery may reach its maximum capacity only after it reach its period of saturation. Before it reaches
its period of saturation, it has to experience charge / discharge circulation for probably 100 times. Once it
reaches its period of saturation, older battery will have lower capacity. The sole method to determine
battery capacity is to conduct load test with the discharger recommended by manufacturer. One cheap
method may be adopted for identifying the battery with poor working effect, in other words, use
hydrometer to determine the specific weight of each battery in the battery pack, and the battery with low
specific weight may work poorly. Once the faulty unit is found out, just remove and replace the battery
that is suspected as problematical. Here, we have no choice but to replace the problematical battery.
However, single battery may be replaced by good battery of identical brand, type, and similar service life.
We may use hydrometer to measure the charge state battery units (Ref Fig. J7). While, the electrolyte
density measuring method is just to determine the specific weight of electrolyte. Higher sulfuric acid
concentration indicates thicker electrolyte, and higher density means higher charge state.
