Notes on using the data transfer function
Situations in which data cannot be transferred or stored
• Data cannot be transferred while communication (a voice call, video-phone call or data communication) is in progress.
Similarly, other forms of communication cannot be used during data transfer. In some cases, it may be possible to receive
a call immediately after data transfer begins. When this happens, data transfer is cancelled.
• OBEX cannot be used to transfer UIM phonebook entries or SMS.
• You cannot use OBEX to transfer all the data when “All lock” (P. 145) or “PIM lock” (P. 149) is set or when the FOMA
terminal is in “Self mode” (P. 156).
• You cannot transfer phonebook data when “Keypad dial lock” (P. 150) is set.
• You cannot receive phonebook data when “Restrict dialing” (P. 152) is set.
• Depending on the file size, the FOMA terminal may be unable to receive some data.

• When you receive a large file (an image or movie larger than 10,000 bytes) that is attached to incoming or outgoing mail,
the large file is linked to the mail stored in the Data box. If there is no further storage space available in the Data box, the
attached file is deleted when the mail is stored.
• Check that the date and time have been set in “Set time” (P. 44) before transferring data. If the date and time are not set,
received schedule and ToDo list entries cannot be stored.
• When a received schedule entry has the same date/time and the same repeat setting (ON or OFF) as an existing entry,
the received data cannot be stored.
• You may not be able to send a melody, image or i-motion to a PC when its use as an e-mail attachment or its transmission
to devices other than FOMA terminals is prohibited.
• When you insert a different UIM card or turn the FOMA terminal on with no UIM card inserted, you cannot send melodies,
images or i-motions for which UIM card restrictions have been set.

Take great care to ensure that the FOMA terminal and PC are properly connected. A faulty connection could not only prevent data transfer but could
also result in the loss of data.
●
Attempting to transfer data when the FOMA terminal’s battery level is low or empty could not only prevent data transfer but could also result in the
loss of data. Ensure that the FOMA terminal is fully charged and that there is a stable power supply to the PC.
●
If a communication error occurs while all data items are being copied from the PC to the FOMA terminal, the entries being written to on the FOMA
terminal may be completely erased. Before attempting to write all the entries of a particular data type to the FOMA terminal, carefully check the
cable connections, FOMA terminal battery level and PC power supply.
