Note
● Ensure that the FOMA terminal does not move while “Processing...” is displayed.
● The FOMA terminal will only scan kanji, hiragana, katakana, alphabetic characters (upper case and lower case), numbers and symbols. Note that it
cannot scan some of the JIS level 2 kanji characters.
● The FOMA terminal cannot recognize handwritten characters. The FOMA terminal may also fail to recognize text in faxed or photocopied
documents, text that is printed in decorative fonts or at irregular intervals, and text that does not stand out clearly from the background. Also,
depending on conditions such as the ambient lighting, the FOMA terminal may fail to recognize some characters correctly.
● If there are already 8 stored items of data in all when you select

“New”, a confirmation message appears asking whether you want to replace
the oldest existing entry. Select “YES” and press
d
to select and replace stored data.
● You can also start up the access reader from a text editing display. When you do this, the scanned data is then entered in the text editing display.
● When the access reader is started up from the dictionary text editing screen, select “Dic. (Japanese)” or “Dic. (English)” scanning mode.
● If you do not press any of the FOMA terminal’s keys for 3 minutes or longer before starting to scan text, the access reader scanning display quits
and the access reader display reappears.
● If you scan some text and then receive a voice or video-phone call or 64K data communication, or you are notified of an alarm clock, schedule or
ToDo alarm, or you use another FOMA terminal function before saving the scanned text data, the scanned text is briefly saved while you change to
the respective display. Later, when you have completed the operation, the reading data list display or details display reappears.

Compose message When the data is scanned in compose message mode, an i-mode mail message is composed with the scanned
data all entered in the respective fields.
When the data is scanned in mail address mode, an i-mode mail message addressed to the scanned address is
composed.
When the data is scanned in free memo mode, an i-mode mail message is composed with the scanned text
entered as the message.

Dialing For text data in phone number mode, the FOMA terminal calls the scanned phone number.

Add to phonebook When the data is scanned in card read mode, the scanned data is stored in the respective fields in the phonebook.
When the data is scanned in mail address mode, the scanned e-mail address is stored in the phonebook.
When the data is scanned in phone number mode, the scanned phone number is stored in the phonebook.
When the data is scanned in free memo mode, the scanned data is stored in the phonebook as a memo.
