Looking after the camera
• The camera in your FOMA terminal uses a CCD imaging element and is made using extremely high-precision technology.
Even so, images may include lines or spots that appear dark or bright. Noise such as points of a random color may also
appear on photographed images, particularly in very poorly lit locations.
• Before taking a picture, wipe the lens clean with a soft cloth. Finger marks or grease spots on the lens can prevent the
camera from focusing properly and cause blurred images.
• Take care not to press on the lens when closing the FOMA terminal as this could damage the lens.
• Image quality may be adversely affected if the FOMA terminal is left for a long period in a hot location.
• Do not leave the camera in direct sunlight for long periods or shoot directly into the sun or a powerful lamp. This can cause
discoloration of photographed images and other camera faults.
Notes on taking pictures
• The color tones and brightness levels in still images and movies shot with the built-in camera may differ from those of the
actual subject.
• If you try to shoot pictures directly into a bright light source such as the sun or a lamp, the image may appear dark or
distorted.
• Take care that your fingers, hair or the camera strap do not obstruct the camera when you are taking pictures.
• During picture taking, the camera uses large amounts of battery charge. Always turn the camera off immediately after you
finish taking pictures. The screen may become dark or blurred if you take pictures when the battery is low.
• If any of the events listed below occurs while you are shooting a movie or taking consecutive photos, your FOMA terminal
stops taking pictures and shows the respective display. Once you exit the display, the camera display reappears so that
you can save the images or movies shot before you received the call or alarm, etc. If one of these events occurs while you
are adjusting the camera zoom or brightness, the adjusted setting is confirmed and the camera menu reappears. If the
auto timer is running when the event occurs, the auto timer stops.
・
You receive a voice call, video-phone call, or 64K data communication.
・
The FOMA terminal notifies you of an alarm clock, schedule or ToDo alarm.
・
You use another FOMA terminal function.
• Camera operation is not cancelled in the following situations:
・
If you receive mail or a Message Request/Free while using the camera (including while the shooting display is
displayed), the FOMA terminal continues taking pictures and does not display the reception results display, regardless
of the setting specified in “Receiving display” (P. 294).
・
Select “Operation preferred” in “Alarm setting” (P. 433) to ensure that the FOMA terminal continues operating and does
not stop taking pictures, cancel the camera settings or stop the auto timer when the time for a scheduled alarm is
reached.
• The volume of the shutter sound and the Auto Timer starting tone is fixed regardless of the “Ring volume” setting.
• Even when “Manner mode” or “Driving mode” is set, the FOMA terminal emits the shutter sound and Auto Timer starting
tone. When “Earphone” is selected in the “Earphone” setting and an earphone is attached to the terminal, these sounds
are still played through the speaker.
• Moving the FOMA terminal while it is taking a picture will blur the image. Either hold the FOMA terminal firmly so that it
does not move while you are taking pictures, or use the Auto Timer. You should also avoid moving the FOMA terminal
while the “Processing” message is displayed just after you shoot a still image.
• When you shoot a still image, the FOMA terminal captures the image after you press the “
d
” key. After you hear the
shutter sound, keep the FOMA terminal steady so that its does not move until it finishes capturing the image and displays
the checking mode display.
• After you display a photographed image, switch to Camera mode or change the camera settings, there may be a short
delay before image features such as the brightness or color tones are displayed optimally.
• When you save images or movies shot using the camera onto a miniSD memory card, you can specify the folder where
the files are saved by setting the save destination folder before shooting. Note that if you switch the FOMA terminal off,
when you switch it on again the save destination changes to last folder created.
• You cannot launch the Camera function while “PIM lock” is set.
