i-mode
■ Notes on Using i - mode
• The information on sites or Internet websites (pages) is normally protected by copyright laws. The downloading of documents,
pictures, and other data from these sites or Internet websites to your i-mode terminal is permitted only when intended for your
personal use only. No data may be copied in part or in whole, whether modified or not, for resale or redistribution without the consent
of the copyright holder.
• Note that all data saved (mail, Message, screen memos, i-
α
ppli and i-motions) or stored (bookmarks, etc.) in your i-mode terminal
is retained for about 1 month even if the battery pack is removed or is completely discharged. However, data may be lost after that
period. Note also that the information stored in your i-mode terminal may be lost when your i-mode terminal is damaged, repaired,
or otherwise mishandled. It is the user’s responsibility to keep a separate record of all data stored in the i-mode terminal. Under no
circumstances shall NTT DoCoMo be held liable for any loss of or damage to the stored data in your i-mode terminal.
• In the course of repairs or other work performed on your i-mode terminal, data downloaded in i-mode, i-
α
ppli or i-motion will not be
transferred to a new mobile phone due to copyright law. Note also that when the UIM card is replaced or the mobile phone is turned
on with no UIM card inserted, some types of mobile phone may be incapable of viewing or playing melodies, images and movies
downloaded from sites, files attached to sent or received mail (images, movies or melodies), screen memos and Message Request/
Free messages.
• If a file with restrictions on viewing and playback imposed by the UIM card is set as the stand-by display or as a ring tone, the FOMA
terminal operates using the initial default settings if the UIM card is replaced or the FOMA terminal is turned on without the UIM card
inserted.

■ When is displayed
You are outside the service area or in a location where signal reception is poor. Move
around until a signal level icon such as
appears.

When is flashing
If you try to connect to an i-mode site (P. 203) or Internet website (P. 212) or send
i-mode mail (P. 245) while you are in the service area but you are not already using the
i
- mode service, the icon flashes and i - mode startup may take some time.
■ When is flashing
When you are receiving i - mode service (during i - mode), flashes.

Important
Data stored in your bookmarks should be noted in writing or backed up onto a miniSD memory card.
